filmreel
This was an interesting reel in my opinion, abit longer than usual, but it had a good variety of what the artist could do. I think what made it s long was the repetition of skills he had. for example he had over five different shots demonstrating how good his establishing shots were.

I was humbled as well by this one because it showed how beautifully one should incorporate their design elements into their name and introduction. It made it interesting to look at plus it was a chance for the artist to show what he could do with animating words. The overall mix of reality and 3d and some 2D animation was seamless and very solid in my opinion.

This reel was most compelling to me because it was a narrative driven reel. It showed all the skills that the artist had i.e variety of shots and cutting on action but at the same time it came together as a small story. Not a completely believable one, but interesting enough to keep you watching through the whole reel. The sound was also well meshed with the reel and it worked well all together.

This one was also very compelling however, the bit of film work they have at the start doesn't belong in the piece. I think to create unity in the demo reel, those few shots could go.

This one was too slow for me. I felt like I was waiting too long for it to build up. And the few times there was a build up, it was way too short. I think there were a number of strong shots, just not composed well enough.

This one was perfect apart from how it ended!!! Everything else was compelling but the end just didn't do it for me. I think there were a lot more well composed shots that could have been used to wrap it up but instead, it felt too abrupt. I still think its pretty strong though.
In general reels are very short. 2 minutes at most. Shots within the reel are only 2 seconds long, very rarely will you find one thats more than 4 seconds. The shots go well together, they are cut on action and they structure the best shots at the start and at the end of the reel.
